Ministry of Education partnerships

Macmillan has long experience of working closely with Ministries of Education in Anglophone, Francophone and Lisophone countries to develop appropriate teaching and learning materials for individual countries in accordance with their national curricula. These partnerships may be:

  • The result of Macmillan winning a tender
  • A direct approach from a Ministry
  • Initiated by Macmillan

We can offer our services or expertise in textbook writing and editing, as well as design, production and printing. Each project is treated individually to meet each customer’s requirements. For instance, local authors and advisers can be chosen by Macmillan or alternatively proposed by the Ministries, for their knowledge of local teaching and material needs. We can offer further international specialists, if necessary, as well as conduct support workshops for writing, editing and teacher training.

Recent examples of successful publishing partnerships with Ministries of Education include:

  • Range of primary textbooks for The Gambia: manuscript development with local author workshops, editorial, production and printing
  • Unified Science for Secondary Schools in Tanzania: editorial work on TIE text, production and printing
  • A range of Basic Education courses for Zambia: editorial work on CDC authored manuscripts, production and printing
  • Primary English and maths courses for Nigeria: printing only
