Where There is No Vet
W.Forse

Review

Where There is No Vet'This book is an essential tool for farmers who live far from a vet, but also for teachers in rural schools, NGO/or agricultural extension workers who advise farmers on how to look after animals, and also vet assistant and other skilled workers.'
The Courier, Nov 2000

Where There is No Vet is more than just a book on first aid for animals. It is a unique practical manual and reference book covering all aspects of livestock health in the tropics - in particular in Africa, the Indian Sub-continent and South East Asia. It explains in simple words and drawings what you can do to prevent, recognise and treat the most common sicknesses in buffalo, goats, sheep, pigs, horses, mules, donkeys, camels, dogs, rabbits and poultry. The book explains where diseases come from and how they spread. It also gives advice on care and feeding, how to handle animals for treatments, assisting with births and dealing with emergencies. It offers advice on both traditional remedies and modern medicines and how to use them, and gives warnings about any which are dangerous. Throughout there is a strong emphasis on how to prevent and control diseases. This book is suitable for a wide range of practitioners including farmers, vet’s assistants or skilled workers, teachers and trainers, NGO or extension workers.
